Molding Clip Kit MCK-3740-71 is a complete windshield and rear window clip set designed for 2-door hardtop and sedan models. The kit secures exterior glass moldings and trim, restoring factory alignment and preventing wind noise, vibration, and water intrusion. Built for restoration and reliable replacement applications, the clips feature corrosion-resistant finishes and OEM-style fit to deliver long-lasting retention and easy installation.
Features:
- Complete kit for windshield and rear window moldings on 2-door hardtop and sedan models.
- Corrosion-resistant metal and durable polymer components for long service life.
- OEM-style fit and retention to restore original trim alignment and appearance.
- Prevents wind noise, vibration, and water intrusion by securely fastening molding.
- Push-in and snap-on design for straightforward replacement during restoration.
- Supplies all necessary clips to replace worn or broken fasteners around both windows.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30 minutes to 2 hours (depending on vehicle and experience)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, disconnect the battery if working near electrical trim components, and protect painted surfaces with masking tape.
- Carefully pry off the existing windshield/rear window molding using a plastic trim tool to avoid damaging glass or paint.
- Remove old or broken clips from the channel. Use needle-nose pliers or a screwdriver as needed, taking care not to gouge the metal channel.
- Clean the molding channel and contact surfaces with a mild cleaner and dry thoroughly. Apply a light rust inhibitor if metal is exposed.
- Position new clips at the same spacing as the original clips. Slide or snap each clip into the channel until fully seated; ensure clip orientation matches molding engagement.
- Align the molding with the clips and press firmly along its length until it snaps into place. Verify consistent engagement and that the molding sits flush.
- Reinstall any trim hardware removed earlier. Check for secure fit, and test for gaps or movement. Re-torque any fasteners to manufacturer specifications if applicable.
- Inspect for water leaks and wind noise during a test drive; retighten or re-seat clips as necessary.
