Instructions:
- Prepare workspace: park on level ground, set parking brake, and protect painted surfaces with masking tape and cloths.
- Remove old molding: gently pry out the existing molding using plastic trim tools and/or a flat-head screwdriver. Use care to avoid scratching paint or the windshield edge; cut through any stubborn adhesive if present.
- Remove and inspect hardware: remove retained clips or metal retainer strips. Replace any damaged clips with those included in the kit.
- Clean installation channel: wipe the windshield flange and channel with rubbing alcohol or a dedicated trim cleaner to remove dirt, old adhesive, and residue. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit new molding: position the new molding along the windshield edge to verify orientation and fit. Make any minor adjustments before final installation.
- Lubricate or apply adhesive as needed: apply mild soapy water or silicone lubricant inside the molding pocket for easier installation. If the vehicle requires adhesive, apply a thin, manufacturer-recommended weatherstrip adhesive to the channel per product instructions.
- Install molding: starting at one corner, press the molding firmly into the channel and snap it into place along the perimeter. Use needle-nose pliers to install retention clips where necessary, ensuring even spacing and full engagement.
- Secure and align: check that the molding sits flush and even. Use masking tape to hold molding in position while adhesive cures if adhesive was used.
- Final inspection: remove any excess adhesive, wipe surfaces clean, and verify a continuous seal with no gaps. Allow any adhesive or lubricants to cure per product directions before driving.
