The Precision Windshield Molding WFS D1179 is a direct-replacement exterior molding designed to seal, secure, and finish the windshield edge. It restores factory appearance while providing a reliable weatherproof barrier to reduce water intrusion, wind noise, and vibration. Engineered for consistent fit and long-term durability, this molding is an excellent choice for restoration projects, maintenance jobs, or when replacing damaged or worn original trim. Verify OEM part numbers or vehicle fitment guides to ensure compatibility before installation.
Features:
- Constructed from durable EPDM rubber with a corrosion-resistant metal retention channel for long-lasting performance.
- Creates a weather-tight seal to prevent leaks, wind noise, and road debris infiltration.
- Helps secure and align the windshield while protecting the glass edge from damage.
- Direct-replacement design — ideal for restoration and routine trim replacement (verify OEM part number for compatibility).
- Easy to seat with common automotive trim tools and resists UV, ozone, and temperature degradation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–60 minutes
Instructions:
- Confirm the part number and verify vehicle compatibility before beginning.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake, and wear safety gear.
- Remove interior trim pieces as needed to access the windshield molding retaining edge using plastic trim tools to avoid damage.
- Carefully pry out the old molding; cut through any adhesive or clips and remove all residual trim and adhesive from the pinch weld and windshield edge.
- Clean the channel and contact surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth; allow to dry.
- If the vehicle requires adhesive or primer, apply primer and a thin, even bead of urethane adhesive per the adhesive manufacturer's and vehicle OEM instructions.
- Starting at one corner, align and press the new molding into place along the windshield edge, ensuring the metal retention channel fully engages the pinch weld; hand-press or gently tap with a rubber mallet for even seating.
- Trim any excess material if necessary and reinstall interior trim pieces.
- Allow any adhesive to cure for the recommended time before driving. After cure, inspect for proper seating and check for leaks by testing with a light spray of water.
