The Precision Fits MCK-3440-70 molding clip kit supplies OEM-style clips to secure windshield and rear window moldings on 2-door hardtop models. These clips restore correct trim alignment, help prevent wind noise and water intrusion, and protect surrounding finish during glass or trim replacement. Made from corrosion-resistant materials and designed for snap-in installation, the kit offers durable, reliable retention and simplifies restoration or repair of exterior molding.
Features:
- Fits most 2-door hardtop models — intended for windshield and rear window molding applications.
- Includes assorted OEM-style clips engineered to hold moldings securely in place.
- Corrosion-resistant materials for long-lasting performance and rust prevention.
- Restores factory trim alignment and helps eliminate wind noise and leaks.
- Snap-in design for straightforward replacement — no specialty clips required.
- Ideal for glass replacement, trim restoration, or repairing broken/aged fasteners.
- Durable construction minimizes future maintenance and trim movement.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and wear safety glasses and gloves.
- Carefully remove the existing molding or trim by prying with a trim removal tool to expose the old clips. Work slowly to avoid damaging the molding or paint.
- Remove any remaining old clips or fasteners from the body flange. Use pliers, screwdriver, or socket as needed to extract stubborn clips.
- Clean the clip mounting area and the back of the molding to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and corrosion. Dry thoroughly.
- Test-fit the new clips on the molding or into the body mounting holes to confirm proper sizes and locations before final assembly.
- If the kit requires clip insertion into the body, position each clip over its mounting hole and press or gently tap with a rubber mallet until it seats flush. For molding-mounted clips, align and snap the clip into the molding per kit directions.
- Carefully reinstall the molding by engaging the clips with the body flange. Start at one end and work evenly to avoid bending the molding. Apply even pressure until each clip audibly snaps into place.
- Inspect the installed molding for uniform fit and alignment. If needed, adjust clip positions or add lubricant to ease seating. Verify there are no gaps that could cause wind noise or leaks.
- After installation, re-check all clips after a short test drive to ensure retention and make any minor adjustments.
