Front lower ball joint for 1960-2003 Chrysler, Dodge, Fargo, and Plymouth vehicles (standard suspension, threaded housing). This critical suspension component connects the control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing controlled pivoting while supporting vehicle weight. Designed as a direct-fit replacement for worn or damaged ball joints, it restores proper steering geometry, reduces play, and improves ride quality. Constructed for long-term durability and dependable performance, it offers corrosion resistance and consistent articulation for safer handling and reduced tire wear. Easy to install for technicians and experienced DIYers, it's ideal for restoration projects and routine suspension maintenance.
Features:
  • Fits 1960-2003 Chrysler, Dodge, Fargo, and Plymouth models with standard suspension and threaded housing (front lower, left/right).
  • Direct-fit front lower ball joint designed to restore steering precision and suspension stability.
  • Durable construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life in road conditions.
  • Precision-machined housing and stud for reduced play and consistent alignment retention.
  • Simple replacement for worn or damaged ball joints during suspension restoration or maintenance.
  • Includes pre-greased joint or grease fitting (as applicable) for improved longevity and lower maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket and ratchet set
  • Torque wrench
  • Ball joint press or C-clamp press
  • Hammer and punch
  • Pry bar
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Penetrating oil
  • Grease gun (if grease fitting present)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front lug nuts slightly, lift the vehicle with a floor jack, and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the ball joint nut and threaded housing area; allow to soak if corroded.
  4. Remove cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castellated or standard nut securing the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle, but do not fully remove yet.
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or by striking the knuckle with a hammer to dislodge the taper, then remove the nut.
  6. Support the control arm and remove any retaining clips or bolts securing the ball joint housing to the control arm or spindle (depending on application).
  7. Use a ball joint press or suitable C-clamp press to push the old ball joint out of the control arm/threaded housing. Clean the mounting bore and inspect for damage.
  8. Position the new ball joint into the control arm/threaded housing and press it in evenly using the ball joint press. Ensure the joint seats fully and aligns correctly.
  9. Reinstall any retaining bolts or clips and torque to the manufacturer's specifications.
  10. Insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, install the nut, and torque to spec. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
  11. If equipped with a grease fitting, grease the joint until fresh grease appears and check for smooth operation.
  12. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification. Test drive to verify proper steering and suspension operation, and have alignment checked if necessary.
