Front upper ball joint (right/left) designed for 1995-2000 Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth platforms. This vital suspension component secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper wheel alignment, steering control, and suspension geometry. Built for durability and reliable performance, it restores factory steering feel, reduces play and vibration, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Ideal for routine suspension maintenance, restoration projects, or replacing worn OEM joints to regain safe handling and responsiveness.
Features:
- Fits: 1995-2000 Chrysler / Dodge / Plymouth — front upper, Right or Left hand (vehicle-specific fit check recommended).
- Direct-fit replacement for factory upper ball joint locations; restores correct suspension geometry.
- Durable construction with hardened ball stud and corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle to maintain alignment and steering precision.
- Helps reduce play, vibration, and premature tire wear for improved ride quality and safety.
- Sold as a front upper ball joint for right or left side; ideal for restoration and maintenance projects.
- Easy-to-install design compatible with factory hardware where applicable.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1.0-2.0 hours per side (depending on experience and tools)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle with a floor jack, and secure on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the upper control arm and knuckle assembly.
- Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and nuts; remove cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut on the upper ball joint stud.
- Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle. A hammer or pickle fork may be needed—avoid excessive force that could damage the knuckle.
- Support the control arm and remove any bolts or retaining hardware securing the ball joint to the control arm (some applications may require pressing out the ball joint).
- Remove the old ball joint and clean the mounting area of dirt and corrosion. Inspect surrounding control arm and knuckle for wear or damage.
- Install the new ball joint into the control arm or knuckle as required by vehicle design. If pressed-fit, use a press or appropriate driver to seat the joint fully without damaging components.
- Reinstall retaining hardware and torque all fasteners to the manufacturer's specification. Insert new cotter pin where applicable and bend to secure.
- Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle, torque the castle nut to spec, and insert a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Perform a test drive and have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
