Front lower ball joint designed for 2005–2012 Dodge and Jeep vehicles, this direct-fit replacement secures the steering knuckle to the control arm and allows smooth pivoting for reliable steering and suspension movement. Built from hardened steel with protective coatings and precision-machined components, it restores factory geometry, reduces play, and improves handling and tire wear. Ideal for suspension repair, routine maintenance, or full restoration projects where dependable performance and longevity are required.

  • Ball joint press or C-clamp with adapters

  • Grease gun (if greasable ball joint)
  • Penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
  2. Loosen lug nuts on the wheel, lift the vehicle with a jack, and secure with jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners (control arm and ball joint areas) and allow to soak if corroded.
  4. Remove cotter pin and loosen the castle nut (or retaining nut) on the ball joint stud but do not fully remove yet.
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or by gently striking the steering knuckle while supporting the control arm; remove the retaining nut and pull the stud free.
  6. If the ball joint is pressed into the control arm, use a ball joint press with correct adapters to press out the old ball joint. For bolt-in designs, remove the mounting bolts.
  7. Clean the control arm mounting bore and inspect for damage or excessive wear. Remove rust and debris as needed.
  8. Position the new ball joint into the control arm and press or bolt it in place to factory specifications. Ensure it is fully seated and oriented correctly for left/right application.
  9. Insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle and hand-tighten the retaining nut. Torque the nut to the vehicle manufacturer's specification and install a new cotter pin if required.
  10. If the ball joint is greasable, apply grease through the zerk fitting until the boot slightly expands. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
  11. Tighten lug nuts to the specified torque with the vehicle on the ground. Perform a full alignment after installation to restore proper steering geometry.
