Outer left-hand tie rod end for 1997-1999 Dodge vehicles. This heavy-duty steering component connects the steering rack to the wheel knuckle, maintaining proper toe alignment and ensuring precise steering response. Built for durability and reliable performance, it restores steering feel, reduces play, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Engineered as a direct-fit replacement for worn or damaged OEM units, it’s an ideal part for steering system maintenance and suspension restoration.
Features:
- Fits 1997-1999 Dodge (verify specific model and trim for exact fitment).
- Durable steel construction with corrosion-resistant coating for long service life.
- Restores steering precision by replacing worn outer left-hand tie rod end to reduce play and improve alignment.
- Sealed ball joint design retains grease and resists contaminants for reliable operation.
- Direct-fit replacement for easy installation during routine steering or suspension repairs.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer left tie rod end connecting the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end threads and castle nut (if applicable) and allow to soak.
- Mark the position of the old tie rod on the threaded shaft (count turns) to preserve alignment, then loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod.
- Remove the castle nut or retaining nut from the tie rod end. Use a tie rod puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
- Unscrew the old tie rod end from the inner tie rod. Compare new and old parts for length and thread count.
- Thread the new outer left tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position (or match the counted turns). Tighten the jam nut to secure.
- Insert the new tie rod end stud into the knuckle and install the retaining nut. Torque to manufacturer specifications and install a cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
