Direct-fit inner tie rod end for 2004-2007 Dodge Durango, designed to connect the steering rack to the outer tie rod and maintain precise steering geometry. This part secures steering linkage, reduces play, and helps prevent premature tire wear by restoring tight, responsive steering. Constructed from high-strength steel with corrosion-resistant finish and precision-machined 16mm threaded ends for reliable, repeatable fitment. Ideal for restoration or routine maintenance to return worn steering components to factory-like performance with long-lasting durability and straightforward installation.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct replacement inner tie rod end for 2004-2007 Dodge Durango (both left and right hand applications).
- 16mm threaded studs at both ends for correct engagement and secure fastening.
- High-strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant coating for long service life.
- Restores steering precision by eliminating play and improving handling response.
- Designed for easy installation and as a reliable replacement during suspension/steering repairs or restorations.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45 minutes - 2 hours (per side, depending on experience and tools)
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise vehicle with jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel for the side being serviced.
- Locate the inner tie rod end connecting the steering rack to the outer tie rod. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners if needed.
- Mark the position of the outer tie rod on the shaft or count turns to preserve alignment reference before disconnecting.
- Loosen and remove the jam nut securing the tie rod assembly. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the outer tie rod end, then separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a puller or pickle fork.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner to free the assembly, then remove any retaining clip or nut holding the inner tie rod to the rack.
- Unscrew and remove the old inner tie rod from the steering rack. Inspect the rack boot and seal; replace if damaged.
- Thread the new inner tie rod into the steering rack to the marked/reference position. Tighten to factory torque specification (refer to vehicle manual).
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle, tighten the castle nut to spec, and install a new cotter pin if applicable. Tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod.
- Grease fittings if present and reassemble any removed components. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Because the steering geometry may have changed, have a professional wheel alignment performed before driving extensively.
