Inner tie rod end for 2004–2009 Chrysler and Dodge vehicles (fits right or left hand). This steering component connects the inner end of the outer tie rod to the steering rack, providing secure, precise steering articulation. Built with a metal bearing and specified thread sizes (15mm at the outer tie rod, 24mm at the rack end) to match OE fitment and deliver long-lasting durability, improved steering response, and resistance to wear. Ideal for restoring steering performance, reducing play, and ensuring safe vehicle handling.
Features:
- Fits 2004–2009 Chrysler and Dodge models — inner tie rod end, right or left hand.
- Metal bearing construction for enhanced durability and consistent steering feel.
- 15mm thread at the outer tie rod interface and 24mm thread at the rack end for OE compatibility.
- Secures steering linkage to prevent play, improve alignment stability, and restore precise steering.
- Easy replacement part for restoration or routine maintenance; resists corrosion and wear.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure with jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Use penetrating oil on the tie rod end nuts and threads; locate and mark the position of the outer tie rod on the inner tie rod to preserve toe alignment.
- Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod enough to release tension.
- Separate the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut if present.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod to expose the inner tie rod connection. Use an inner tie rod tool or appropriate wrench to loosen the inner tie rod at the rack end (24mm thread).
- Remove the inner tie rod from the steering rack. Inspect rack boot and surrounding components for damage and replace if necessary.
- Thread the new inner tie rod into the rack hand-tight, then torque to the vehicle manufacturer's specification. Ensure the 24mm and 15mm thread engagement is correct and secure.
- Reattach the outer tie rod to the new inner tie rod, adjust to the previously marked position (or approximate) and tighten the jam nut to specification.
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle, torque the nut to spec and insert a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec. It is recommended to get a professional wheel alignment after installation to ensure proper toe and handling.
