Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts.
- Raise vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the threaded adjuster or count turns to preserve alignment settings.
- Disconnect the cotter pin (if present) and remove the nylon lock nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod and unthread the outer tie rod end from the adjuster using the marks/turn count as a reference.
- Thread the new tie rod end onto the adjuster to the recorded position (or match the length to the old part), then tighten the jam nut against the adjuster.
- Insert the new tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, secure with the supplied 14mm nylon lock nut, and torque to manufacturer specification.
- Reinstall the cotter pin if applicable, re-mount the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque wheel lug nuts to spec.
- Because small differences can affect alignment, have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe and tire wear.
