Instructions:
- Open the liftgate and remove the old weatherstrip: gently pry out any retaining clips or adhesive using a trim tool or flat screwdriver.
- Thoroughly clean the mounting channel and surrounding surfaces with rubbing alcohol or adhesive cleaner to remove dirt, grime, and old adhesive; allow to dry.
- Compare the new seal to the old one to verify correct length and profile; trim excess with a utility knife if necessary.
- If the replacement requires adhesive, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or back of the seal per adhesive instructions; many seals will push into place without adhesive.
- Starting at one corner, press the seal firmly into the channel—work around the perimeter, ensuring the seal seats evenly and any bulb sections face the latch area for optimal compression.
- Reinstall any retaining clips or fasteners removed earlier. Close the liftgate and check for even contact and gaps; adjust as needed.
- Allow adhesive to cure fully before exposing to weather or heavy use (follow adhesive manufacturer cure time).
