The Precision Lower Chrome Locking Strip for Windshield Weatherstrip Glass Seal WLS D690 A secures the lower edge of the windshield weatherstrip and locks the glass in place. It restores the original chrome trim appearance while helping to maintain a tight seal against wind and water intrusion. Constructed for durability and corrosion resistance, this locking strip supports proper alignment of the weatherstrip and provides a reliable, long-lasting replacement that simplifies restoration or maintenance of windshield trim.
Features:
- Chrome-plated locking strip designed to replace worn or damaged lower windshield trim.
- Helps secure windshield glass and retain the weatherstrip for a tight seal.
- Corrosion-resistant chrome finish restores original appearance and resists the elements.
- Durable metal construction for long-term reliability and reduced vibration.
- Simple retrofit for restoration projects and routine weatherstrip replacement.
- Fits into the weatherstrip channel for a clean, OEM-style finish.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and protect surrounding trim with masking tape or rags.
- Carefully remove the old lower locking strip: use a trim tool or flat screwdriver to pry the strip out of the weatherstrip channel, working slowly to avoid damaging the glass or rubber.
- If necessary, remove any remaining clips, fasteners, or adhesive from the channel. Use a wire brush or sandpaper to clean light rust or debris.
- Clean the channel and surrounding rubber with rubbing alcohol or a suitable solvent; allow to dry completely.
- Dry-fit the new chrome locking strip into the channel to confirm correct orientation and fit.
- If recommended for your application, apply a thin bead of windshield molding adhesive or compatible adhesive to the channel where the strip will seat.
- Starting at one end, press the new locking strip into the weatherstrip channel. Use a rubber mallet or a block of wood with light taps to seat the strip evenly along its length. Avoid excessive force.
- Reinstall any clips or fasteners removed earlier. Trim any excess material if needed and ensure the strip sits flush with the glass and rubber.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions, then inspect the seal. Test for proper fit, and check for gaps or leaks after a short drive or simulated water test.
- Make any final adjustments to ensure the strip is secure and the windshield weatherstrip sits correctly for a watertight seal.
