A precision-engineered chrome locking strip designed for the WLS D690 B weatherstrip profile, this part secures the windshield weatherseal to the glass to prevent wind and water intrusion. The bright chrome finish restores the factory look while delivering corrosion resistance and long-term retention. Ideal for restoration or replacement projects, the strip provides a reliable, low-profile clamp that keeps the rubber seal locked in place and simplifies weatherstrip installation. Verify WLS D690 B profile compatibility with your vehicle before ordering.
Features:
- Designed for WLS D690 B weatherstrip profile; verify part number for correct vehicle fitment.
- Chrome-plated metal construction for durability and corrosion resistance.
- Locks windshield weatherstrip securely to the glass to prevent leaks and wind noise.
- Low-profile design restores factory appearance on restoration projects.
- Simple, non-invasive installation—no special adhesives required when used with compatible seals.
- Helps maintain a tight seal and reduces vibration and seal movement over time.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding painted surfaces with masking tape.
- If replacing an existing strip, carefully remove the old locking strip and weatherstrip. If windshield removal is required for your application, consult a professional.
- Clean the glass channel and rubber seal area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and old sealant. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the weatherstrip (if not already in place) and ensure the WLS D690 B profile aligns with the glass bead and body flange.
- Measure the required length of the locking strip against the weatherstrip channel, allowing a small gap at each end for thermal expansion. Mark the cut point.
- Trim the locking strip to length with snips or a fine hacksaw. Deburr any sharp edges.
- Starting at one end, press the locking strip into the inner lip/channel of the weatherstrip so it seats between the rubber and the glass bead. Use a flat plastic trim tool to guide the strip where needed.
- Gently tap the locking strip into place with a rubber mallet or soft-faced hammer, working along its length to avoid kinks and ensure full engagement.
- Inspect the strip for uniform seating and confirm the weatherstrip is snug against the glass and body flange. Make minor adjustments with the trim tool as needed.
- Clean any fingerprints or residues from the glass and surrounding trim. Reinstall any trim pieces removed earlier.
- Test for proper seal by checking for wind noise at low speed and visually inspecting for gaps. If seal issues persist, consult a professional installer.
