A direct-fit windshield weatherstrip seal designed for 2- and 4-door sedan and 4-door hardtop models, featuring an integrated trim groove for use with a lockstrip (WCR D591). This seal secures and centers the windshield, creates a weather-tight barrier to prevent water intrusion and wind noise, and protects the windshield flange and paint from damage. Constructed from durable, weather-resistant rubber compound, it provides long-lasting resilience against UV, ozone, and temperature extremes—ideal for restoration projects or routine replacement to restore factory fit and finish.
Features:
- Fitment: Designed for 2- and 4-door sedan and 4-door hardtop models — compatible with lockstrip WCR D591.
- Material: Made from durable, weather-resistant rubber for long service life and resistance to UV and ozone.
- Function: Seals the windshield to prevent leaks, reduce wind noise, and protect the pinchweld and trim.
- Design: Integrated trim groove accepts the lockstrip for a secure, factory-style retention.
- Ease of use: Machined profile for accurate seating and straightforward installation or replacement.
- Application: Restoration-grade replacement part to return weather protection and appearance to original condition.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Instructions:
- Prepare workspace: Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and protect painted surfaces with masking tape and rags.
- Remove old seal: Carefully pry off the exterior trim and lift out the old weatherstrip and lockstrip if present. Use trim tools to avoid damaging the pinchweld.
- Clean channel: Remove all adhesive residue, dirt, and rust from the windshield channel using a scraper and clean rags with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the surface is dry and smooth.
- Inspect lockstrip and pinchweld: If reusing the lockstrip (WCR D591), confirm it is straight and undamaged. Replace if bent or corroded.
- Lubricate seal: Lightly wet the new weatherstrip with soapy water or a dedicated rubber lubricant to ease installation and help the seal slide into place.
- Seat the seal: Starting at the top center of the windshield, work the new weatherstrip into the channel, aligning the integrated trim groove with the lockstrip area. Press the seal into the pinchweld progressively toward each corner.
- Install lockstrip/trim: If using a lockstrip, engage it into the trim groove to lock the seal in place. Use a rubber roller or block to gently press and secure the lockstrip without deforming the seal.
- Trim and finish: Trim any excess material as needed with a utility knife. Reinstall any exterior trim pieces removed earlier and verify even seating around the windshield.
- Final check: Inspect for gaps, press firmly along the entire seal to ensure full contact, and allow any adhesive (if used) to cure per manufacturer's instructions before driving.
