The Precision Liftgate Weatherstrip Seal GWL 6110 84' is a heavy‑duty replacement seal designed to restore a tight, weatherproof closure for liftgates and tailgates. It prevents water intrusion, dust, and wind noise while helping maintain interior climate control and protecting cargo. Made from resilient, UV- and ozone-resistant rubber, this seal provides long-lasting durability, reliable compression recovery, and an OEM-style fit for straightforward restoration or repair projects. Easy to install with basic hand tools, it improves sealing performance and reduces rattle and vibration for a quieter ride.
Features:
- Durable EPDM rubber resists UV, ozone, and temperature extremes for long life.
- Designed to prevent water, dust, and wind noise from entering the cargo area.
- Push-in profile for a snug OEM-style fit and reliable compression recovery.
- Easy to install with basic tools; suitable for restoration or routine replacement.
- Helps reduce vibration and rattle while protecting trim and paint at the liftgate opening.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the liftgate and, if needed, remove the interior trim panel to access the old weatherstrip and fasteners.
- Carefully peel out the old weatherstrip and remove any retaining clips or adhesive residue.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or mild cleaner and a clean cloth; allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new GWL 6110 84' seal along the channel to verify orientation and length. Trim any excess if necessary, leaving a small overlap at corners.
- If recommended for your vehicle, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting channel or the seal’s mounting flange per adhesive instructions (use adhesive sparingly).
- Starting at one corner, press the new seal into the channel, working around the perimeter and ensuring the seal seats fully into any clip locations. Use masking tape to temporarily hold sections if needed while adhesive sets.
- Trim and tuck corners carefully for a neat fit. Reinstall any removed interior trim or fasteners.
- Close and latch the liftgate several times to check fit and compression. Allow adhesive to cure as directed before exposing to moisture if adhesive was used.
