The MCK-3740-68 molding clip kit is designed to replace worn or missing clips on the windshield and rear window moldings of 1968–1970 Dodge Charger 2-door hardtop and sedan models. It secures and aligns exterior glass trim to prevent vibration, wind intrusion, and trim damage while restoring factory fit and appearance. Manufactured from high-quality, corrosion-resistant materials with an OEM-style fit, these clips deliver durable, reliable performance and straightforward installation for restoration and repair projects.
Features:
- Fits 1968–1970 Dodge Charger 2-door hardtop and sedan models.
- Complete molding clip kit for windshield and rear window trim replacement.
- Corrosion-resistant materials with an OEM-style finish for long-lasting durability.
- Secures glass molding to reduce vibration, rattles and wind leaks.
- Easy, drop-in replacement to restore original fit and appearance during restorations.
- Ideal for repairing or restoring vintage Chargers with missing or damaged clips.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours (depending on access and experience)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding paint with masking tape where trim will be pried.
- Carefully remove the existing windshield or rear window molding: use a plastic trim tool to pry along the edge and release old clips. Have a helper steady the molding on larger sections to avoid bending.
- Inspect the molding channel and body flange, remove any old clip remnants, corrosion, or adhesive, and clean the area with a rag and rubbing alcohol.
- Compare new clips to the originals to confirm orientation and clip type before installation.
- Install new clips onto the molding or vehicle flange as required by the original configuration—some clips snap into the body flange, others seat into the molding channel. Ensure each clip fully engages and aligns with mounting holes.
- Re-seat the molding by aligning it with the top edge and pressing evenly into the newly installed clips. Work from one end to the other, confirming each clip snaps into place.
- Check trim alignment and glass fit: ensure there are no gaps, the molding is flush, and the glass is secure. Adjust clips as needed.
- Clean the area, remove protective tape, and test for rattles or wind noise on a short drive. Re-tighten or reposition clips if necessary.
