Precision Windshield Molding WFS F2162 RC is an OEM-style replacement windshield trim designed to secure and seal the windshield edge, preventing water intrusion, wind noise, and vibration while restoring the vehicle's finished appearance. Made to exact-fit specifications, the molding protects the glass edge from chips and helps maintain the original fit and finish. Built for durability and ease of installation, it’s ideal for restoration projects and routine windshield replacement or trim refreshes.
Features:
- Direct OEM-style replacement windshield molding for exact-fit trim restoration.
- High-grade EPDM rubber body with a corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting durability.
- Seals windshield edge to prevent water leaks, wind noise, and vibration.
- Protects glass edge and surrounding sheet metal from chips and corrosion.
- Simple installation — designed for reliable fit and repeatable results during restorations.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and wear safety glasses and gloves.
- Carefully remove any exterior trim or retaining clips that overlap the molding using a plastic pry tool to avoid scratching paint.
- Gently pull out the old molding. If stuck, use a trim tool and a flathead screwdriver (taped) to ease it out in short sections to avoid bending the trim channel.
- Clean the molding channel and surrounding area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or an adhesive cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and residue. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new molding into place to confirm alignment and fit. Trim any excess if necessary, following the vehicle’s original cut points.
- If the vehicle or molding requires adhesive, apply an appropriate primer and adhesive following the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Starting at one corner, seat the molding into the channel and press progressively along the edge. Use a rubber mallet or firm hand pressure to ensure the molding fully engages the channel and any retaining clips.
- Reinstall any trim pieces or clips removed earlier. Use masking tape to hold critical areas in place while any adhesive cures.
- Trim and finish ends cleanly with a utility knife if needed, and apply a small bead of silicone to corners or seams only if recommended for additional sealing.
- Allow adhesive or sealant to cure per manufacturer recommendations, then inspect for gaps and test for drafts or leaks after a wash or light spray.
