The Precision Fits MCK-3740-62 Molding Clip Kit supplies OEM-style retention clips for windshield and rear window moldings on 2- and 4-door hardtop and sedan models. These clips secure exterior trim and glass channels, preventing wind noise, water intrusion, and trim sag. Made to restore original fit and finish, the kit delivers durable, reliable retention and easier reassembly during restoration or replacement of windshield and rear window moldings.
Features:
- Fits 2- and 4-door hardtop and sedan models (windshield and rear window molding applications)
- Includes precision-molded clips designed to match OEM fit and spacing
- Protects trim and glass channels from sagging, vibration, and water leaks
- Durable, corrosion-resistant construction for long service life
- Simple press-in installation for fast restoration or replacement projects
- Ideal for restoring original fit, finish, and sealing performance
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes (per window assembly)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a flat surface, wear safety glasses and gloves, and protect painted surfaces with towels or masking.
- Carefully remove the exterior molding or trim that holds the windshield/rear window, using a trim removal tool or small flathead screwdriver to release the old clips.
- Remove any remaining old clips and clean the mounting flange and channel thoroughly with solvent to remove dirt, adhesive, and corrosion.
- Compare new clips to the originals for correct orientation and spacing before installation.
- Install new clips onto the molding or into the flange/channel by pressing each clip into its mating slot until fully seated. Use a rubber mallet or a firm press if needed—avoid excessively forceful hammering.
- Reinstall the molding or trim by aligning it with the clips and pressing evenly along the length to engage all clips. Confirm clips are locked in and trim sits flush.
- Re-check the seal and fit, and test for wind noise or water intrusion. Replace any damaged clips or repeat seating where necessary.
