Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and ensure the working area is clean and well-lit.
- Carefully remove the existing molding or trim to expose the clip locations; use a trim removal tool to avoid damaging paint or trim.
- Remove damaged or corroded clips using needle-nose pliers or a flat-head screwdriver; retain fasteners for reference if needed.
- Clean the molding channel and mounting surface with a rag and mild cleaner; remove old adhesive residue and rust flakes.
- Compare new clips to old ones to confirm correct orientation and type for each mounting location.
- Install new clips into the molding channel or body holes by pushing or snapping them into place until fully seated; ensure clip tangs align with the mounting hole.
- Reinstall the molding by aligning it over the new clips and pressing firmly until each clip engages and the molding sits flush.
- Check fitment along the full length for even spacing and secure retention; trim or reposition as needed.
- Test for secure attachment by gently pulling on the molding and verifying there is no undue movement or rattle.
- If applicable, reinstall any trim or weatherstripping removed earlier and clean the area for a finished appearance.
